Rohingya-laden trawler was capsized in the Bay of Bengal at 9am on Wednesday 31st October.the incident was taken place while Rohingyas were fleeing from Rakhaine state.

Sub-Assistant Community Medical Officer, Dr. Amanullah of Shamlapur Health and Family Welfare Center at Baharchara Union under Teknaf upazila said that BRAC staffs have brought 5 Rohingya women and children to the hospital for treatment.

Three were dead among them. They are Enamul Hassan (4) son of Mohammad Islam, BuchidongYongchang area of Myanmar. Minara Begum (5)Ali Zohar’s daughter and wife of Abul Hashem Juhura Begum (60). The other two have been referred to the hospital after primary treatment.

They are Ahmad Nur’s son Hamid Nur (1), Azizul Haque’s daughter Aziza Begum (2). Along with me, Dr. Osman of the government medical team and the International Organisation for migration (IOM) Medical Officer, Dr. Naimapru has also given medication for Rohingya.

There were 26 Rohingyas in the trawler. They have left Myanmar at 1pm.The surviving Rohingya does not know anything about broker the owner of the trawler.

Baharchara UP chairman Alhaj Md. Aziz Uddin said that the Coast Guard has chased away the Rohingya-laden trawler after entering into baharchara coastal area.The Rohingya-laden boat escaped from the Coast Guard and fled towards Inani.

3 Rohingya dead bodies are in Shamlapur Health and Family Welfare Center of Baharchara Union under Teknaf upazila up to 11am at the time of writing the report,
